HOPE – PEACE OF SCHMUCK x “Half A Man”

We are happy and feel honoured that we can support someone very special with the design of our HOPE ring:

30 years ago, Flo Sitzmann lost his legs through an accident and became “Half A Man”. Soon after, he discovered the handbike and quickly fought his way to the top of the world in this discipline (3x German Champion, Vice World Champion, participation in Paralympics, etc.). Since then, he has also been on the road for a good cause, collecting donations, combining this with his sporting ambitions, such as the 540 km long “Styrkeprøven” (Trondheim-Oslo) race in Norway, where his world record at the time on the route is unbroken ever since.

For 30 years, Flo Sitzmann has seen himself as a source of inspiration, a role model and a driving force when it comes to »life«.

Maybe as a “role model” or even an inspiration for people in seemingly hopeless situations who are struggling with their fate. Because “strokes of fate” were never coincidences with no way out for him, but rather a starting signal for discovering new paths – the “exemplification and encouragement” maybe even “his mission” in this world.

So it only makes sense to take the 30th anniversary of “Half A Man” as an occasion for a new tour:
This time: 900 km across Germany from north to south – past many familiar places with personal memories.

The “Miles for Hope” route runs from 18.08. until August 31, 2022 from Hamburg to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Our HOPE ring shall accompany Flo and give him strength along the way.

The 30th anniversary of Flo Sitzmann’s accident and thus the “birth of half a man” will be celebrated on August 31, 2022 on the Zugspitze.

The tour is once again dedicated to a good cause: This time, the focus is on the “Hope for Children” foundation of the Volksbank Darmstadt-Südhessen eG and Sitzmann’s desire to do something good in his region in the long term is now paying off.
